About the Summit
Across the globe, micronutrient deficiencies in soil and crops have become a concern, impacting crop yields and quality. Many countries are witnessing multi-micronutrient deficiencies — dominated by zinc and boron - followed by iron, manganese, copper, etc.
But it doesn’t stop there! Micronutrient malnutrition also affects human beings, causing serious health problems. Intensified agricultural practices, imbalanced fertilizer application, nutrient depletion, and lack of replenishment contribute to this problem. While progress has been made on the policy front, much more must be done to address the challenges effectively.
The Global Micronutrient Summit 2.0 aims to do the same and goes beyond just soil and crops. During the Summit, experts will delve into the intricate connections between soil, crops, and human well-being, exploring how micronutrients like zinc and iron play a vital role in combating micronutrient malnutrition.
The inaugural Global Micronutrient Summit in 2019 was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse group of policymakers and industry experts. With the participation of approximately 200 delegates from India and abroad, the event received invaluable support from PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as the Knowledge Partner and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) as the Technical Partner. The Summit was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and featured a keynote address by Shri Kailash Choudhary, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. During the Inaugural session, Dr. Ashok Dalwai, CEO of NRAA and Chairman of the Task Force on Doubling Farmers Income, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
